    Link popularity

    Measures the total number of web sites that link to your site. Search engines think that a site that has many inbound links is more popular and rank those sites higher. In other words the more web sites have links to your site the better your chances of getting a higher rank by search engines.

    Not all inbound links are equal, though. For example, an inbound link from a major directory carries more weight than a link from an obscure personal
    home page.
